BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING!!!
As the search continues for Dzokhar Tsarnaev, one of the brothers suspected of the Boston Marathon bombing, Chechen leaders and citizens are roundly denouncing his actions.
Dzokhar and his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed in a gunfight with Boston police Thursday night, were identified by police early Friday as suspects.
Russian president Vladimir Putin offered assistance to the United States in investigating the Monday bombing, calling the attacks a “heinous crime,” according to a story at The Huffington Post.
In a post on Instagram, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov stressed that the brothers’ actions were not condoned by or connected to his country.
“…We have previously expressed their condolences to the people of the city and the people of America,” read part of Kadyrov’s Russian message that was translated through Google Translate. “Any attempt to make the connection between Chechnya and Tsarnaevymi if they are guilty, in vain. They grew up in the United States, their attitudes and beliefs were formed there. It is necessary to seek the roots of evil in America. From terrorism to fight the whole world. We know better than anyone else. We wish recovery to all the victims and share the feelings of sorrow Americans.” (sic)
Many Twitter users of Chechen descent took their opinions to social media platforms Friday, with one user noting, “People are responsible for their own actions. It’s not on the nation of origin.”
